Questions about our furnaces?

The main benefit of choosing a gas furnace is the lower energy consumption compared to other heating methods such as

BTU stands for British thermal unit and it is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit (One BTU is about 1055 joules of energy). Gas furnaces have sizes ranging from 40,000 to 120,000 BTU/hour.

To decide the furnace size you should be purchasing, A heat loss calculation (Manual J calculation) should be performed which will tell you the ideal size for your furnace. Of course, we can also help you determine the ideal size for your home. Without examination, it is difficult to determine which size is ideal.

It is the equation for determing a furnace size that is ideal for your home by taking your home size, climate, design, and architecture into consideration.

At Energy Care Canada, we are partnered with the following brands: Lennox, American Standard, Armstrong Air, Keeprite, Goodman, and Aire-Flo.

AFUE stands for the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency rating and it measures how efficient energy is consumed. A higher AFUE rating represents a higher efficiency. When selecting a furnace, always choose the highest AFUE rating within your budget.

Single-stage heating have a fixed gas valve and a single-speed blower motor. A two stage furnace system will have two levels of output, resulting in higher heat output.
Two stage furnaces are superior to single stage furnaces due to their ability to operate at a low speed most of the time and has little temperature variance.

A variable speed furnace refers to the furnace’s indoor blower motor operating at a range of speeds to control the flow of heated air to your home. It is more efficient than both the singe and two stage furnaces and thus more cost friendly.

Yes, at Energy Care Canada, we perform maintenance including the cleaning of your furnace system and parts & labour components, saving homeowners the hassle of having to reorder parts or maintain their system. Watch out for any of the below warning signs to protect you and your family against any harm. Call us at _____________ if you have any concerns.

Furnace Age:

If you had your furnace for a long time it may be time for you to shop for a new furnace. It is best to plan ahead so you can take your time in choosing the right furnace for your home. The average life expectancy for a furnace is anywhere between 15 to 20 years.

Increasing Utility Bills:

If you’re noticing increases in your gas or electricity bills it may mean that your furnace is no longer efficient. You may need to get your furnace repaired or replaced. Proper maintenance of your furnace can prevent the early breakdown of your furnace. Call us to receive a free consultation.

Constant Repairs:

If you find yourself spending a lot money on repairs and replacement parts to keep your furnace running, it may be time to make the switch. Furnaces tend to require the most repairs in the last two years of life; switching now may save you more money in the long run.

Fluctuating Temperatures:

Old furnaces may lack the ability to evenly distribute air throughout the home which will affect your comfort and requires you to constantly adjust your thermostat. If you find fluctuating temperatures throughout the day and even in different rooms, it may be time to get your furnace fixed or changed.

Air Quality:

Air quality inside your home may be affected if your furnace isn’t working properly. You may experience lack of moisture, dust accumulation, and stuffiness which will take away from your comfort and health and even be damaging to plants and furniture.

Strange Sounds:

If your furnace is making any strange sounds be sure to get it checked out as well for any issues.

Carbon Monoxide:

Carbon monoxide is a serious and deadly health threat. If you notice the burner flame is yellow, excess moisture on walls, excessive rusting on pipes, soot, water leakage, no upward draft in the chimney and feeling unwell, make sure to get help right away.

Questions about AC services and rebates?

We are partnered with the following brands for AC products: Lennox, American Standard, Armstrong Air, Keeprite, Goodman, and Aire-Flo.

Prices vary based on the AC system purchased but as general guidelines, it can range from $3500 to $7000, with an average cost of $5000. Further savings can be acquired through our rebate systems.

Air conditioners are divided into two categories, room air conditioners and central air conditioners. Room air conditioners can be mounted on a window or a wall, or they can be a free standing portable unit. They will be smaller in size because they help circulate fresh, breezy air in specific rooms. A central air conditioner can be a single package unit, split system, or hidden in the mini ducts. Since this circulates air all throughout the home/space, the system will be bigger and so there may be multiple components, indoors and outdoors.

EER rating represents the cooling efficiency of an HVAC unit, which is calculated by the rate of cooling in BTUs per hour divided by the rate of energy input in watts at a specific temperature. The optimal rating for a cooling unit is 80db/67wb indoors and 95db/75wb outside.

SEER rating represents the cooling input during the winter, divided by the total electric input during that same period. The higher the SEER rating is, the more efficient the system will be. For example, a unit with a SEER rating of 13 will increase efficiency by up to 30%.

Replacement or repair costs can go upwards of $300 with additional representative travel fees. It may be worthwhile to invest in a brand new AC.

Different models and types may qualify for different rebates programs, contact our staff for details about your particular AC system.

The AC maintenance plan helps ensure your AC system is operating at the highest efficiency and providing you with a comfortable living environment year-round.
The monthly cost for this program is $9.99 + HST/month. Any new AC system purchase with Energy Care Canada will further reduce the monthly cost to just $8.99 + HST/month.

Questions about our attic insulation?

Within a house, adequate insulation should be in the walls, basement, and attic as this is what keeps the hot air in and cold air out in the winters. Without insulation, your home is at risk of temperature fluctuations and even home damages.

During the winter months, temperature changes can have an effect within your home. The snow can melt and create ice dams as well as excessive condensation which poses a danger to your home. Insulation ensures your house is safe during winters and hot summers. In addition to safety, insulation can help with energy savings and avoid environmental issues.

In the GTA, we offer a variety of rebate programs that allows you to earn back  money while you perform energy efficient home renovations. Because attic insulation helps with energy savings, you can qualify for thousands of dollars in rebates. Contact our specialist for more information regarding our rebates.

Basement insulation helps prevent energy loss within your home. The basement is the area of the house that loses the most amount of heat which is why it cannot be neglected in the insulation process. It can also help with reducing moisture, reduce energy costs, and increase future value of the property.

Questions about our water heaters?

The water heater assists with heating the water through electrical-resistance heating elements. Every home needs a well-functioning water heater for many different rooms , such as bathrooms, kitchens, space heating, etc.

Depending on your particular situation, our specialist may advice either buying or renting. Beyond the initial purchasing cost and rental cost, one must also consider the additional costs such as installation fees, labour costs, parts costs. In addition, one must also consider the time investment toeither maintain your purchase or search for a contractor after your warranty ends.
